When we hear the topic or anything that has this “Being Healthy” in it, what is the first thing that comes in our mind, mostly? Obviously, it is concerned with the diet that having a slim and smart figure would definitely mean that you are healthy and where a person who is not even overweight but is just a little chubby would come in the criteria of being fat. No! This is nothing what “Being Healthy” means. It is not only concerned with the diet, but it is also deeply connected with your mental and emotional health.

Eating a balanced diet is not about rigid restrictions, staying unrealistically slim or depriving yourself of the food you enjoy. Instead, it’s about how you feel, having more energy, improving your health and boosting your mood. We all know how seductive diets are, how good it feels to work hard at something and have everyone tell you how great you look. But then we also know the heartbreak from trying to relax just a little, leaving you worse off than where you started from, only with an extra layer of shame and misery that comes with failure.

Restrictive diets can work amazingly well, but only for a short period. In the long run, diets make losing weight and getting healthier harder. So what to do in this case or how to become healthy without a restrictive diet which is by adopting a healthy lifestyle and that is the only method that seems to consistently help people lose weight and stay healthy.

Have Your Breakfast

Having breakfast daily; a light, healthy breakfast is adequate enough to reap the benefits of eating early. If it comprises protein and whole grains, then it will prevent you from gorging at lunch. Research has shown that breakfast skippers usually eat more. So restraining your appetite, don’t skip the first meal of the day. Instead of having two chocolate filled doughnuts with a coffee which is mostly cream filled, have an egg and a fresh orange juice that will help to relieve your tiredness and would make you lively.

Drink Plenty of Water

Keeping yourself hydrated is important for health and well-being, while most of us don’t ingest enough fluids each day. Water keeps your bodies at the correct temperature and removes toxins. With that, it also helps to clear your skin, help your kidneys and helps to manage your appetite. Drinking beverages like tea or warm water also help to stimulate your metabolism. It would help your body to naturally detoxify itself.

Eat Healthy All Over the Day

If you have filled half of the plate with fruits and vegetables, you are on the right path. Add protein, non-starchy food, low-fat dairy and whole grains to your diet. Once you have established this healthy eating pattern, your body will feel more comfortable and productive. Not all fats are bad for your health. You can take fat from fish by which you would take omega-3. Fishes like tuna and salmon, other than fishes, avocados, nuts would be the best choice for your health.

Remember not to restrict yourself into eating these if you don’t like it. Start by smaller steps and you will eventually leave all the bad greasy food and snacks which are high-on calories.

Practice Mindfulness

The reason mindfulness is so important is that your current habits occur virtually automatically. Remember, this is a defining characteristic of habits. You go to your day to autopilot and before you know it; you are in front of your computer munching on some chips you grabbed in the break room. Mindfulness is a skill that allows you to realize your current mental state, make you happy and creative. It creates the pause necessary for you to reflect on your values before acting, giving you the mental flexibility you need to choose something new.

Think about how you feel when you get home, probably tired and hungry. However, this morning you planned to cook a healthy meal when you get back home, but now there’s a chance that you don’t feel like it. This combination of fatigue, frustration and hunger wants you to eat rich-calorie food that does not take a lot of effort. So that pizza in the freezer is pulling you much more strongly than fish and the veggies in the fridge that also require preparing and cooking. 

Being aware of these individual feelings, rather than simply reacting to them or trying to resist them, is a powerful skill. Because once you do it, you can then ask yourself if those feelings are worth acting on or if it is worth it to do the healthier thing anyway, even if it’s a little harder today. New habits will almost always feel like more work the first few times you do them. But if they are intrinsically rewarding, eventually it will feel like the easiest option. Mindfulness is what will help you get there.

Exercise Daily to be healthy

Well, if you can’t run, then don’t. Start from smaller steps. Play with your neighbors. It can be anything that requires movement. Then you may play Badminton, and eventually you will have enough stamina to go for a walk or run. Exercising daily would help you gain a figure, and it will help for your inner metabolism work as well.
