Be productive to get done things quickly
How can we keep human bodies or minds updated with the current technologies? How can we be productive? Well, we have seen many trends like that on first January, people writing their New Year resolutions that they are going to do this and that, they are going to be more productive and then there comes will power. They would last three days by following this New Year resolution and then life comes along, hitting them all over again, asking them to start from square one and then in a blink of an eye, they would forget their New Year resolution. New Year’s resolutions are not being productive.
“To think is easy. To act is difficult. To act as one thinks is the most difficult.”Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
We have procrastinated 95% of our way through most of our life. People don’t really know the meaning of being productive. It’s not what most people have taken it, to sit all day being busy yourself. No! There is a difference between being Productive and being busy. Being productive means that you are doing quality work and reaching your goals you have set and doing more tasks in less time. While being busy is what you keep yourself shut and showing you are doing work without really doing it.
“Focus on being productive instead of busy.”Tim Ferriss
Productivity is not just completing your tasks. It’s about what you are getting into yourself. What you are forming into. It made it possible for us to show our dreams. It is necessary in achieving goals and dreams. Productivity means that you live a balanced life, either your professional life or personal life, both are supposed to be productive. Prioritizing your things and goals and focusing upon them.
Here is the list of some practises that may help you get more productive or how to get things done!
Set Your Routine
This includes waking up early, meditating and exercising. By setting your routine, you will know how you can manage your things.
Waking up early would mainly be tough. You will feel grumpy and groggy, but it will get better gradually and you will feel morning positivity. You will have plenty of time in which you can do things while the entire world is asleep.
“He that rises late must trot all day,”Benjamin Franklin
Meditating your mindfulness is one of the best things to do, not only to get productive but also in other aspects of life. By doing these practises, you will clear your mind from your inner thoughts and you will feel more focused and attentive.
Exercising is also a practice which makes your body feel relaxed. It helps your body to get out of its comfort zone and get into shape. Because physical activities are also important for your mental health and a balanced life.
Set Your Goals
Setting a list of objectives is the best way to get yourself inspired and motivated. Set achievable and realistic goals that you know you would get done instead of making a long list of goals that you won’t even touch.
Set SMART goals which are specific, measurable, time-bound and relevant. So you know what you are doing and on which things you want to focus. So choose them according to your priority.
Make a Plan
Writing everything down would make your life less chaotic and more productive. So the first thing is: Grab a diary and write your tasks which you want to accomplish. Make categories like urgent, not urgent but important, and urgent but not important. This would make it much easier to where to start. The need for writing is because our mind is already going through many things, so if we leave these things to just our brain, it will mingle things up and down.
Once you have written your tasks, break them down even more. Let’s say if you have to do a task by Monday, set the task with its day. This would help you prioritize in order and to avoid procrastination.
Choose Your Workplace to be productive
Make sure you choose the place in which you are comfortable. But it doesn’t mean that you are comfortable in your bed, so you make it your place to work. No, your place must suit your situation. Either get a silent room in your house or somewhere in the library if it has separate cabins. This would help you distraction free, and your focus would only be on your particular task you are doing.
Finish What You Have Started
If you have set your daily tasks with a time limit and you couldn’t do it in time, you don’t have to leave it halfway. Complete it and start the new one. Let’s say if you are writing an essay and you have reached your time limit, don’t start the new one but first finish your essay and then start another task. Because some tasks take longer than we think. Leaving it half way as your time reached, it won’t make you productive, but your brain would still have stuck to your previous task.
It doesn’t always mean you have to complete what you have started. Let’s say you are reading a book and the time you set for it is 1 hour. Complete three chapters and you are halfway to three and your time is ticking. So what I meant is that, complete the chapter and then move on. Mark Off the Task You Have Done. Once you have done a task, tick it off your list. It will help you see what tasks are left, and also it will give you a relief and a moment of feeling happy that you have done your task.
Treat Yourself well to be productive
Treat yourself that you have done throughout the day. Give yourself a treat and enjoy. It will help lift your mood and you will feel more motivated for the next day and more productive.
“The only way around is through.”Robert Frost
Decide What you want to do and just do it. If you decided to do nothing and you did nothing. Congrats, you were productive.
